Unlocking Enhanced Security with Custom Namespace in AnyDesk: A Complete Guide
Understanding Namespaces
Your Namespace is your custom domain within AnyDesk. It serves the dual purpose of accurately identifying your device and enhancing security by only allowing connections from devices registered to your Namespace.
What is a Namespace?
When using AnyDesk to connect to remote devices, you’ll need the ID or Alias (AnyDesk Address) of the remote device.
The AnyDesk ID is a unique 9 or 10-digit code found in the application.
The AnyDesk Alias is a letter-labelled address displayed below the ID.
The AnyDesk Alias consists of your device’s username and a custom Namespace - <username>@<namespace>, for example, John@ad.
The default Namespace is @ad, which represents AnyDesk and is assigned to all users with the AnyDesk application installed. AnyDesk’s portable version (not installed) only has an ID.
By choosing a custom Namespace, you can create a unique name, such as YourName@CompanyName, which is exclusively available to you.
Your personal AnyDesk domain enhances device identification and security. You have the ability to whitelist your custom namespace in the Access Control List settings, allowing only devices registered to your Namespace to connect to you.
For further information about the AnyDesk address, you can refer to AnyDesk ID and Alias.
What are the benefits of a custom Namespace?
Opting for a custom Namespace provides the following advantages:
- Enhanced security - Easily identify verified clients and block unauthorized access.
- Simplified management - Grant full access to whitelisted clients within your Namespace.
- Brand identity - Convey a professional brand image to your customers with a custom namespace, thereby building trust.
- Seamless setup - Choose your domain name, and a namespace will be created for you. Set up your Namespace in a few simple steps and add it to your Access Control List for heightened security.
